Explore Fresh Indigo Dyeing & Simple Resist Techniques

Join Beth Mort of Snapdragon Flower Farm to explore dyeing with fresh indigo on silk. Working with fresh indigo is a delight and so magical. We will use the salt extraction method and learn different ways of resist-binding to create beautiful patterns that you can use in all your dye projects.
In addition to working with the indigo and a selection of flowers grown on Beth’s farm for the dye project, you’ll learn about the easiest to grow and best pigment plants for your garden, not just growing tips but also harvest and processing for dye projects all year long. You will learn the basics of preparing fabrics for natural dyes.
You’ll leave with your hand-dyed silk scarf and some of Beth’s favorite dye plant seed to use for the 2026 season.
Cost: $85 per person
All tools and materials provided, including:
- Fresh Indigo and a selection of dye blooms all grown on Beth’s farm
- Pre-scoured, pre-mordanted Habotai silk scarf
- A creative and welcoming environment perfect for beginners and more experienced dyers alike
- Seeds from some of Beth’s favorite dye plants to plant in the 2026 season

We will be working with a powerful pigment, so please dress comfortably and wear clothing knowing it could get stained or bring an apron if you like!
